Upcoming Class Dates Generally I start a new series every six weeks. Upcoming start dates are February 27, April 22, and May 21. There's room for one more couple starting 2/27.
Classes run 5:30-7:30 p.m. for both the Sunday series and the Monday series.
A typical 2 hour class goes like this: We discuss questions that have come up during the week, especially the study helps in the workbook, we briefly check over the new vocabulary, new components of nutrition, coaching, and relaxation. We cover the material using lecture, visual aids, Q & A, games, videos, and practice. We practice a new relaxation method most classes, and sometimes we have a guest speaker.
In addition to teaching Bradley classes, I am also a La Leche League Leader, so I'm always glad to help anyone with questions about breastfeeding, and the topic is well-covered in my classes. Dr. Bradley wrote that the most important reason for a natural birth is to get breastfeeding off to a good start. Wow, it's that important! My free postpartum breastfeeding help is a valuable bonus for my students, since once you're out of the hospital, you would have to pay for lactation consultants. (But you won't -- because you'll have me!)
We watch several short DVDs in class, and one of the movies I show is Orgasmic Birth. Seeing that this is a possibility is exciting! You can see how others experience a blissful birth, and incorporate as many of those elements as you wish. It's your birth -- don't just "get through it," embrace it!
Classes are held at Bellani Maternity on Rte. 2 in Warwick. A few insurance companies will reimburse students for part of the cost of prenatal classes and I'm glad to fill out whatever paperwork or receipt they need for you to be paid back. (They should all cover prenatal classes -- you'll be saving them money!) Ditto on Flexible Spending Account receipts.
I require a non-refundable $25 deposit to register for class, or, if you're finding me just in time to start class, you can pay it at the first class.
